Become a Corporate Authorised Representative under Kobble's AFSL

Get to market in weeks, not years.

Kobble (Yondr Money Pty Ltd) holds Australian Financial Services Licence 545391. Businesses can operate as a Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR) under our licence and launch payment, card and wallet products in Australia without applying for their own AFSL. Most CAR appointments are finalised within 3 to 4 weeks.

Your own AFSL can take years. A CAR takes weeks.

Getting your own AFSL can take years and cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. You need lawyers, a responsible manager, a full compliance framework and a long ASIC assessment before you can take your first customer. Payments licensing reform is set to bring more payment service providers under AFSL rules, so the queue isn't getting shorter.

Time

From preparation to approval, your own AFSL can take years. A Kobble CAR appointment is typically finalised in 3 to 4 weeks.

Cost

Lawyers, compliance hires and capital requirements can run to hundreds of thousands of dollars before you earn one.

Overhead

Breach reporting, dispute resolution, audits and AFCA membership don't stop once you're licensed.

How a Corporate Authorised Representative arrangement works

We appoint your company as our Corporate Authorised Representative and notify ASIC. You then appear on the ASIC register under our licence. You run your product and your customers. You operate within the authorisations our AFSL holds. As the licensee we stay responsible for your conduct, so we oversee compliance from day one.

You get a compliance partner, not a rubber stamp. We work with your team from appointment onwards.

What you can offer under our AFSL

  • Issue non-cash payment products. Offer prepaid cards, digital wallets and stored value facilities to your customers.

  • Deal in non-cash payment products. Arrange for customers to open, use and close those products.

  • Provide general advice. Explain your product's features and fees to customers, without personal financial advice.

Our authorisations are listed in full on the ASIC register. Not sure your product fits? Tell us what you're launching and we'll check it against our authorisations on the first call.

Frequently asked questions

What is a Corporate Authorised Representative?

A Corporate Authorised Representative (CAR) is a company authorised by an AFSL holder to provide financial services on its behalf. The CAR doesn't need its own licence. It operates within the licensee's authorisations and is listed on ASIC's register under that licence.

Do I need an AFSL to launch a payments product in Australia?

In most cases, yes. A product that lets customers make non-cash payments, such as a prepaid card or digital wallet, generally needs an AFSL or authorisation under one. Some exemptions apply, so get advice on your specific product.

How long does it take to become a Kobble CAR?

Most CAR appointments are finalised within 3 to 4 weeks of the first call. The main variable is how quickly we receive your due diligence documents.

How much does it cost?

It depends on your product and the authorisations you need. We'll give you a quote after the first call.

What does Kobble need from me?

Company details, director and shareholder identification, a description of your product and business model, and your compliance arrangements.

Can I use my own technology?

Yes. Becoming a Kobble CAR doesn't require you to use our platform. Use the vendors that best fit your product and we'll support you on licensing.

Can I use Kobble's platform as well?

Yes. Kobble is a Mastercard principal issuer and Banking-as-a-Service platform. You can launch cards, wallets, accounts and payments on our infrastructure under the same relationship.

Can international companies become a Kobble CAR?

Yes. We work with overseas companies launching in Australia. You'll need an Australian company, or a foreign company registered with ASIC, to be appointed.

Can I move to my own AFSL later?

Yes. Many businesses start as a CAR and apply for their own licence once they have scale. Operating as a CAR first gives you a compliance track record to build on.

I'm already an authorised representative. Can I move to Kobble?

Yes. If your current licensee is exiting, changing its authorisations or no longer fits your product, we can take you through the same due diligence and appointment process. Most moves are finalised within 3 to 4 weeks.

How do I check Kobble's licence?

Kobble operates under AFSL 545391, held by Yondr Money Pty Ltd. You can confirm it on the ASIC Professional Register.
