63,000 Users, Six-Hour Migration, Zero Customer Disruption.

63,000 customers — one issuer migration in six hours. Shouta prepaid Mastercard powered by Kobble.

What if Changing Your Card Provider Didn't Mean Disrupting Your Customers?

Shouta migrated 63,000 users and 20,000 active cards to a new issuer in a six-hour cutover. Shouta Biz continued sending gift card rewards throughout, customers experienced zero disruption, and Shouta emerged with a significantly stronger commercial model.

For Gift Card and incentive providers staying with legacy infrastructure because moving feels too difficult, Shouta demonstrates that there is another option.

Why Shouta Moved

As Shouta grew, it wanted greater flexibility in its underlying card infrastructure, a stronger commercial model, and a platform capable of supporting the next phase of its corporate and consumer gifting and incentive products. That's what set the migration in motion.

Shouta's team planned the cutover over a few months. They mapped accounts, sequenced customer communications through HubSpot, and worked through legal and compliance review of the new terms and privacy policy, with Kobble's team involved directly in planning, sequencing, and executing every part of the cutover alongside Shouta's.

The technical cutover itself took six hours. Customers experienced zero disruption to sending gifts throughout, a result that mattered more than almost anything else in this migration. For a consumer product built on instant, always on gifting, even a short outage would have broken the trust the product depends on.

"Moving 63,000 users to a new issuer without any disruption isn't something we took lightly. Six hours start to finish is a result we're proud of." — Prijwal Naidu, Chief Data Officer, Shouta

"A lot of infrastructure in this space was built for a different era. Kobble was built for right now, fast, modern, and able to handle a migration like this without the customer ever noticing. That's the standard we think card issuing should be held to. I am extremely proud of everyone who made that happen." — Shane Chanel, CEO & Founder, Kobble

Why the Underlying Platform Matters

A lot of what made this possible comes down to how Kobble's API is put together. Some issuers spread their documentation across multiple product lines and older naming conventions. Kobble's API sits in one consistent reference, covering cards, wallets, transactions, and programs in the same structure throughout. It supports idempotent requests, so a retried call during a live migration can't accidentally create a duplicate. Card art can be managed directly through the API. And the documentation is built to be read by modern developer tools, not just people.

The same infrastructure that powered this migration also supports gift card issuing directly. Kobble's API allows gift cards to be issued instantly and compliantly, the same underlying capability that let Shouta move 63,000 users without disruption is what lets a gift card program get up and running quickly in the first place.

Where Shouta Landed

Shouta came out of the migration with more than a new issuer. It moved onto modern card infrastructure that gives the business real-time visibility into cards and transactions, support for digital wallets, and greater control over how its programs operate day to day.

It also moved to a significantly stronger commercial model, now paying a fraction of what it paid its previous provider.

The goal going in wasn't just a successful migration. It was infrastructure that could actually keep up with where Shouta is headed next.

What's Next

For Shouta, this migration built a foundation for growth, not just a new issuing arrangement. On Kobble, the business can now support physical and virtual Mastercard products, Apple Pay and Google Pay, instant and bulk card issuance, and spend controls across its consumer gifting, corporate rewards, and incentive programs, capability it can lean on as those programs scale.

Kobble's API led, modular platform means Shouta can evolve the customer experience and launch new capabilities as program needs change, without having to move providers again.

For other established gift card and incentive providers still running on legacy infrastructure, Shouta's migration is a preview of what's possible.
